This doesn't count as a post...

Just a reminder...tonight is the premier of "The Real Housewives of New York City." The show airs at 11 PM EST on Bravo. That's a little late for me, so I'll set my DVR and watch it tomorrow. I will be doing a weekly recap, just like I did for the "Real Housewives of the O.C."

From what I've seen this show is definitely NOT good PR for the ladies of Manhattan. These women remind me of some of the obnoxious New York girls who I went to college with at Syracuse University in the 80's. (They were so materialistic and flashy that I transferred out after my sophomore year.)

These women believe Manhattan and the Hamptons are the center of the universe and can't understand why anyone would choose to live elsewhere. Don't get me wrong, I too love New York. I just don't believe in strutting around crowing about how much BETTER it is than everywhere else in the world!

Just like in the O.C. it's all about the money. If they were normal, sweet housewives I'm sure I wouldn't have any interest. So pull up a chair and let the ladies of NYC entertain and annoy you!

Oh, and they play tennis. Not well, but they play.

If you go to Bravo's website you can meet the whole cast of characters.

Thanks for the reminder. I Tivo the OC one but I forgot about this show.

I have only seen parts of one episode and they weren't even really nice to each other. The one with the title was a total bitch to some hostess of a little dinner party she was invited to. And then the one that wasn't invited called up the hostess to chew her out for not inviting her.

At least the ladies on the OC version were more real friends. Kind of.

yes, this group seems really crass...the OC ladies were just wacky.

Well, it's probably a good thing I don't have Bravo. I'd be addicted and my grades would suffer. But it does look very entertaining...maybe I'll catch it when it's out on DVD.

I saw the preview show and I didn't like any of the ladies....they were all total "itch-bays" and not even in a cute fun way. I wasn't sure why they thought that they "were all that." I guess lots of $$ can make you believe lots of things...but of course I will watch, if only to make me be even more thankful that I am a poor woman who lives in the boring midwest! I'll miss the OC women!!! Thanks for the reminder.

I'm all over this. I enjoy a good cat fight and it looks like there will be quite a few with these ladies. They are definitely completely different then the OC girls.

Amen to your post today! Each time I see the commercial for this, I cringe! That blonde bitch who makes the ugliest sneer I have ever seen saying, "I would never want to live in the suburbs....."
Believe me, woman, we wouldn't want to see you at our children's bus stop either.....

Oooh. I LOVE the Real Housewives of Orange County, it's one of the few things I actually watch on TV. I'll have to check this one out. Thanks!

I will be sleeping at 11 so I will have to watch this at a later date. I also did not enjoy the preview and couldn't even watch the whole thing. Totally agree with your assessment. The ladies of Orange Co. sort of grew on me and like Linda said above, they were wacky and that's ok. The NYC women don't seem very likeable.

I'm so psyched for this show. But I can already tell that I'd much rather go drinking with Vicki and Jeana than any of the NY women.

OK-I will be watching. It is at 10pm for me. I think they are really a little skanky. I loved the OC version. I will give the NYC show a shot.

I watched it. So disappointing. Their hair! It's sooooooo bad! They were so embarrassing but I couldn't get past their bad hair. Very skanky. Their children seemed to have more class than them. I can't believe that's the best group of women they could find to represent NYC. I'll give it one more shot, though. It was pretty late...
