FINALLY!

AT LAST...I had a chance to sit down and watch "The Real Housewives of NYC" Did I like it? YES! Did I like the ladies? Well it depends. Here is my short take on each Housewife in order of their "annoyance factor."

Alex By far the most annoying. Complete social climber with a gay husband. Her french au pair, Anais, is gorgeous-but with her husband she has nothing to worry about! The scene in Saint Barths where she and her husband were frolicking in their thongs almost made me heave my Diet Coke.

Ramona Super obnoxious. The worst dancer I've ever seen, yet she thinks she's a sex machine. The scene where she and her friend wrestle each other in bikinis and then throw each other in the pool was priceless. I can't even say what I'm sure her husband was thinking when he watched that little display. Let's just say he looked really excited. Her daughter Avery is adorable and completely embarrassed by her Mom...and rightly so!

Jill Her voice with that whiny Long Island accent is enough to drive you up a wall. As Howard Stern would say..."What a yenta!" I have to say, I completely covet her house in the Hamptons. I would LOVE to have a house like that, with a tennis court and a pro! HEAVEN. It's the people out there I could do without! Her husband Bobby does not want to know what she spends on anything. (Sounds like my kind of guy.) His job, as he says, is to be "the provider and take care of everyone." Good for everyone else!

LuAnn, the Countess Her husband, Alexandre Count de Lesseps, is a French aristocrat (of the Suez Canal dynasty). A former Miss Connecticut and model. She seems alright. Her kids are cute, she dresses beautifully and has a nice personality. I'll reserve judgement on her!

Bethenny The only single lady in the bunch. Very cute and a little more "downtown" then the rest of the ladies. She aspires to be a "hip, healthy Martha Stewart." I don't trust her boyfriend. It seems that if she wants to get married and have a baby anytime soon she's barking up the wrong tree.

The next episode is Tuesday night on Bravo. Apparently the ladies duke it out on the tennis court! I'll be watching.

I just watched it too. I totally agree with your assessment of the characters (er, I should say women, but don't they just seem fake? Like characters?) except that I'm pretty sure LuAnn is going to turn out to be the biggest bitch of all. I'm not sure why.

I agree with your assessment and jerseygirl89's... I think LuAnn is just more subtle ( not a far reach with this crowd) but time will tell. Wouldn't call any of them "socialites" in the old fashioned way, though they are out and about. It's a tacky group to be sure. It makes me cringe that they picked them as a representation of New Yorkers.

I am in complete agreement. He is soooooo gay. But good for her, she is really unfortunate looking.
At least someone is willing to have sex with her.

taaaa-cky.

Back from Disney and couldn't wait to see this show. In fact, hubby was setting the TIVo at 4 am before we left for the airport so I wouldn't miss it. I loved every minute. Totally agree with your every opinion on this crew. Alex's Australian banana hammock wearing husband was more Ass than Australian! I remember Bethanny from Martha Stewart Apprentice. She bugged me and still does. Didn't know her marital mishaps. During the pool party with bimbo brawl, did you notice the daughter's Villanova Wildcats t-shirt?

So glad to see you are watching with the same interest I am!

I totally agree with everything you said.

Alex's husband is soooooo gay and his speedo killed me. She seems very snobby and I hate the names she chose for her sons.

I've been wanting to watch that, I could never get into the Orange County one but this one looked a little more fun!

Ugh, I can't get into this one. Maybe it's because I'm on the left (west) coast. I can't relate to them....

I really liked that post. I wasn't able to catch it...I'm not even sure if it airs in Canada yet. You should keep going on the updates :)

I don't watch this show, but now I want to. When you describe Jill's voice, I picture it like Chandler's girlfriend Janice's voice on Friends. Is that about right?

I love the housewives shows but never get the chance to watch them with kids, house, husband, errands, driving everybody around. I'm just fall into bed by the time it comes on. So, anyway, I look so forward to your updates so I'll be up on everything when I do get a chance to watch.

When I watched the first episode, I immediately thought, "Alex's husband can't be straight. What straight man would be so into her clothes?"

Great minds think alike, sister.

I loved the Housewives of Orange County (and their houses and clothes) but wasn't that impressed with these New York housewives. I completely agree with your assessment of each one. Alex and her husband did nothing for me what so ever. Socialites, are they sure about that?!!!! LuAnn is about the only one that seemed to have some class (and yes, I said some). I'll have to stay tuned. The other two married ones, yuck...yuck...yuck! No class what so ever. The single one, seems normal for now.

oh, that first one looked annoying on the preview! and isn't that bethany from the martha stewart apprentice show?? don't trust that girl either.

Did you see the scene where the Countess tells her girlfriends that when they are introducing her to drivers, personal chefs, or other "help" that they are to address her as Countess and are never to use her first name.

Hmph.

My first impressions of her were good also but after that scene I'm not liking her so much.

But anyway, I like this show so far. The women really annoy me though. I don't know if I'll make it thru the entire season.

Okay, after reading this post I was too curious. I tivo'd it and watched it last night and....I'M HOOKED!

They are all tacky as all get out. I would have thought you could move to the Upper East Side to get away from these types. Guess not!

That poor daughter Avery. I'd be embarrassed too if my mom was that immature and raunchy.
