Question...

How much sleep do you need?

Not how much do you get, how much do you NEED to feel good?

I hate to admit this, but I think I need about 9 hours a day to feel good. I NEVER get 9 hours of straight, uninterrupted sleep, but it seems 9 hours total is my prescription for feeling energized.

My husband probably gets about 6 hours per night, (if he's lucky, he gets up REALLY early). He sleeps soundly that entire 6 hours. (I know because I see him sawing logs while I'm up dealing with nightmares, or bathroom emergencies at 2 am!)

Lately I go to bed at about 10:30 and get up at 7:30. (With one or two wake ups per night.)

How about you?

(I just had a flashback to the newborn years, nursing every two hours, no sleep...oh the HORRORS!) But those little infants are so dang cute!!

I don't think I even know anymore. I usually get 7-8 but I don't sleep well. I wake up a bunch in the night. When I get more I always feel groggier than I usually do. All I have to say is Thank God for Diet Coke!

I'd love 9 or so hours of sleep. Usually I sleep from around 11 until 6/6:30. Usually at least one interruption from the kids. But you know, sleep is just a poor subsititute for caffeine anyway;)

I don't sleep that well. I think I need at least 8 hours but usually get 6 hours.
I try to get to sleep about 10:30 but that usually doesn't happen. Hubby comes in later. I am a light sleeper so his snoring can wake me up for hours. He has to get us at 6 am so with all his moving around and the lights on --me sleeping any longer isn't really an option.
I cheerish the weekends though when I can get an extra hour or two.

I can always tell if I'm not getting my sleep. I get sooo sleepy around 3:00 p.m. and moody. I hate to admit it, too, but I need 9 hours at least, preferrably 10. Seldom do I get it.

9 hours would be perfect. However, between nightmares and bathroom visits, tummy aches and "I need some water", it doesn't seem like much. I really have to have my sleep! I don't know how I did it when they were babies. Yes, they were dang cute. Weren't they?

9 hours would be good for me too but I usually get about 7.

I'm good with about 7 or 7 1/2.

However, my youngest (18 months) has recently been the perfect storm of ear infections, teething and separation anxiety...leading to me getting far less than that. She wakes up early (and often).

Once I sell her on eBay, I'll try to go back to my 10 pm to 5:30 am schedule. (Hell yeah, it's early...but the only time I can fit in exercise.) Until then, I'll be flabby and continue with the IV treatments of coffee.

I hate to say it, but I have no idea. I work nights, and go to school, and have four boys. I usually get maybe six. On the days I can sleep I'll over do it and sleep for 12. Mr. Honeybell once thought I died after sleeping for 16 hours.

Nine would be perfect. But even if I could allot nine hours to sleep, I can't sleep peacefully for nine hours straight.

If I go too long burning the candle on both ends, I eventually get physically sick. I've always required sleep. My husband can make it on a lot less sleep than me.

I wish I knew... haven't had a restful night's sleep in years. No matter what time I go to bed, I will wake up 4-5 hours later... and never sleep past 5 a.m.

9 hours is my perfect sleep number also. Unfortunately, I usually get 5. FIVE! But that's because I insist on staying up all night and bleaching my hair a lovely shade of orange. Yep. Remember the blonde hair color from my last CVS excursion. Yep. And now I'm like Oh Ma Gawd because its AWFUL.

Wow, I just totally hijacked your blog. Sorry. Hey, enjoy Florida by the way! I guess I'll give you a buzz when you get back.

9 is my optimum number but I seldom get it. I find I can function, not great, but I can at least function on 7 hours. Any less than that, and by 3 PM, I'm ready for a nap.

I too NEED 9 hours. But I usually only get between 6-7 hours. The sad part is that its my fault. My little guy doesn't go to bed till 9:30 so after he's down for the night I'm busy cleaning up and doing whatever needs to be done. And then I'm trying to squeeze in some me time and before I know it, it's past midnight. If only I could nap when he does. But I've never been able to nap. Weird.

I think I need about 8 but rarely get more than 6, and never without interruption from kids and....ummm...snoring!

I think I need 9 but usually get 7. I go to bed 11:30 - 12:30 ish and get up at 7:30. I wish I wasa morning person...I would love to get up earlier and have all my exercise and chores done by 9am. If I went to bed earlier maybe I could. It's just that those are the only hours of the day that are uninterrupted "me" time.

I think I need at least 8, but I sleep so terribly I can't even tell. Usually if I can get six hours straight and some dozing I'm okay. Well, except for right now, when little baby to be is demanding that we sleep ALL THE TIME.

I'm pretty much the same. I got to bed between 10:30 and 11 and get up between 7:15 and 7:30 usually. It seems I always wake up at least around 4 for a bathroom break.

I usually get about 7. Anything over 8 or 9 and I have a headache.

That is why I had to give up the big C (caffeine and coffee-ok that is two c's). I need around 8hours, and I am already pushing it tonight. WHY? I let myself have a coke. GRR!

I need sleep to function in a calm rational manner. When I don't have it-I become irrational, cranky and almost manic. It is a little scary!

With that being said-I am going to bed!

I LOVE to sleep. I sleep as much as I possibly can. Usually that's between 6-8 hours, sometimes 10. And I love every minute of it!

Lately I have been doing the 10:30-7:30 thing too and needing every bit if not more. I also get up about 3 times during the night. I used to live off of 6-7 when I was working.

8-9 hours, but usually get 6.

Honestly, I think I need 9 as well. I usually get about 8, but if I ever get to sleep in as long as I want (which hasn't happened in years) I would wake refreshed at 9 hrs. I really wish it was so much less. It would make life so much easier! And I'd have more time to do stuff!

Yes, 9 hours is WONDERFUL for me. But I'm one of those with an infant and a 4 year old and a 6 month old. So, I'm up putting a pacifier back in or finding Big Brother's car that fell behind the bed at 3 am!
