What's your THING?

What do I do when I'm burnt out and have nothing to say? Yeah, yeah, the puppy is wearing me down...

What I do is pull out a post from last year!!! Enjoy!!!

My sister plays soccer on a ladies' team. Her new neighbor asked, "Is soccer your THING?" My sister didn't know how to answer. She said she doesn't know if she has a THING. She almost felt bad that she didn't. She plays soccer once a week, works part-time as a nurse and dabbles in the PTA. But she doesn't have a thing per se. I think her thing is being hilarious, she cracks me up!

Unfortunately that isn't enough for her. My poor little sister has 'THING Envy."

My friend Sandy's husband's thing is his band. My other sister's thing is being a sports mom. My friend Tricia's thing is her involvement in every committee in our town. My thing is tennis.

Having a THING is wonderful, but I don't think my youngest sister should feel bad for not having one. She's probably better off. Sometimes the THING we're known for can take over our lives and overshadow some of the really important stuff. Too much of anything is never good. (With the exception of caffeine!) :)

You know where I'm going here...What's your THING?

HMMMM...I should have known better than to read blogs before bed. Now I will go upstairs wondering about my "thing". Tell your sister not to feel bad. Don't know that I have a thing. Or maybe I have too many "things" and that would make me have an overcommitted "thing" and I don't think that's the best "thing". I could go on forever...but won't.

I guess blogging is my thing, if I just had to pick. And, coffee. And, naps, when I can get them!

Tell your sister not to feel bad, I don't think I have a "thing" either!

I'm thinking of the song..."It's your think, do what you want to do".

Nice post.

Can work be your thing...is thinking a thing?

tennis is my thing!!! I am just me out there. In my mind, I am a tennis star! I don't have to do laundry, pick up anything but a ball, I am not anyone's Mom or wife... just me, tennis superstar!!!!! Positive attitude goes a long way!

Hey anonymous-why don't you have some tennis BALLS and tell us who you are???

As much as I hate to say this my thing is shopping... or maybe monogramming - that sounds better to me than shopping! I wish my thing was running marathons though.

My thing is pretty boring -- my blog. Which is not to say my blog is boring (although you might think that). Just that it's the only THING I am that obsessive about.

That and food. But that's off limits for the duration of my diet (er, life).

I don't think I've found my thing yet. (Does that sound dirty or is it just me?)

I think blogging is my thing. I never really had a hobby I felt I couldn't live without before. Chocolate, unfortunately, is anothe big thing, and I wish I could get exercise to be a THING to make up for it!

Exercise was my "thing" before I had a child. Now I have trouble finding time for that "thing" and I miss it!!!!!

My thing is taekwondo... been training for eight years now. Like any sport, it will take over your life.

Blogging and beauty are totally my things - though my friends would probably add fashion to that!

What a great topic! I don't know what my thing is, I think I dabble in a bunch of things trying to find my true thing.

I have a couple "things", like interior decorating and writing, but I don't know if anyone identifies me by any one "thing" in particular. I'm a little of everything, I guess.

I'd second Atlanta Social's comment- Junior League ( sustainer now ,was President), charity committee work, shopping, decorating and blogging (well, reading anyway, need to get my own up and running)

Previously, I don't have a 'thing' either but then I started blogging. So, blogging has become my 'thing'. And now, I can't imagine not turning on my laptop for even a day!

I have no thing...I should probably find a thing.

Interesting post! Some people are lucky enough to find their 'thing' at a young age; most of us don't find it until we know ourselves better, as an adult. I think a person's 'thing' can change, too.

I would have to say that I have three 'things', but they rarely are my 'thing' at the same time. Art (painting, reading about art, visiting galleries, buying art); reading; interior design (usually this one is not my thing for as long as the others, but discovering blogging over the past year has really fueled this fire). I am currently in interior design thing mode, but I can feel the pull of the art again.

I have too many things, which can be frustrating. There is not enough time to water my things. Some things are more fun than other things, but there are things I HAVE to do then the things I want to do. Parenting is the greatest thing, but keeps me from my creative things. Like writing music. Or photography. Or poetry. Or enjoying nature. Sometimes, I can pull the kids into these things, which is a good thing. Everyone should have at least one thing.

Darn, I don't have a Thing....I want a Thing! My kids Thing has kinda been my Thing, but I think I need my own Thing. And you are right, a lot of my friends have their Thing, so I can understand your sister's envy.

I used to have a thing, but I cut it off.
Wait. That sounded weird.
I used to do a lot of musical theater. I was a pretty good singer and dancer at one time. But now I have no time for it, so it has been temporarily removed.
