Yesterday my 9 year old had her friend Kaitlyn over to play. Kaitlyn is a total trip. She's one of the funniest kids I've ever met.
When her mom came to pick her up we had a little political discussion. It went something like this:
Kaitlyn: Mrs. Y, I almost forgot to ask you this, who are you voting for in the election?
Kaitlyn's Mom (who is very proper and polite): KAITLYN!!! You don't ask people that question!
Me: It's okay. I'm voting for McCain.
Kaitlyn: I'm for Obama.
K's Mom (threatening tone): KAITLYN.....
Kaitlyn: I love Obama. Lot's of kids in my class wanted Hillary. But I really wanted Obama.
Did you know that Abraham Lincoln didn't have much experience, but he was a great president.
K's Mom (under her breath): I don't know where she gets this.
Kaitlyn: Daddy's for Obama.
K's Mom: Did he tell you that?
Kaitlyn: Yeah, he loves Obama. Katie likes McCain, so does Trevor. They should get married.
K's Mom: Kaitlyn it's time to go home.
Kaitlyn (as she climbs in the car): Wouldn't it be exciting to have our first black President? I think Obama's going to win!
And off they went...
I think someone has a future in politics. That child is proof positive that the trickle-down theory does indeed work! (And I think mom was more than a bit surprised to hear who daddy was voting for!!)
Big debate tomorrow night...stay tuned.

lol! She's got a point!
That's so cool to see kids that are young engaged in our country.
BTW-Come by my place and read my latest drama. Argh!!!
WOW that beans got spunk...reminds me of my 11 yr old bean who is a McCain supporter is that possible to be a supporter at the ripe ol age of 11??? can i snag your McCain/palin button?
What a riot! By the way, I played tennis today with a good friend - we've known each other for 25 years - she told me that she thought having a blog was self-indulgent. Nice, huh? I think it is self-indulgent. Reading yours is pure fun for me. If that's self-indulgence, I'm all in.
I wish everyone could talk about the election like kaitlyn!! It would make these next few weeks so much more bearable!!
That is funny! I love hearing my kids talk politics. As long as they want McCain too :)
Wow! I'm part of your posse?!?!? I'm honored! :-)
OMG sounds like Griffey, only he's for McCain and he tells everyone, LOL Everything this kid knows...trickled down from my husband, or my Dad....and with his attention span, it's just bits and pieces, ROFL
How funny! I love it when kids talk politics.
Hey, there! I am glad to "meet" you! I have no idea how you found me but I'm glad you did! I love your blog!
I'm a tennis lover, too. After 20 years away from the game, I've taken it up again and am loving it. I'm still in the embarrassing stages, but hope to be playing in a league in a few months.
I'm looking forward to reading more!
that's pretty cute...so much passion in one little girl! she's been well prepped!
My third-grader just told me that one of her classmates said that Barack Obama stuck up his middle finger at someone. Gasp. Rumor-mongering has now trickled down to the elementary school level!! LOL.
Aaah-- I'd have to swear you to secrecy! Just kidding--sort of. That's why I posted way down here. It's a private place for some of us to discuss McC/P without being disturbed by the other side's comments. E-mail TP&G and she'll get you in if you're interested. :)
xo
Petunia
Lol, I can just imagine the conversation that followed between her parents when they got home. Lol
Funny! I wonder why adults don't talk politics in this country (liek they do in others). Oh wait a minute, I know why..... I had to remove my Hockey Moms for Obama bumper sticker a coupple weeks ago after the tire was slashed on my brand new land Rover, that's why. Pity.
