Hot Rod Mama

You know what really irks me? Parents who zip around the drop off line at school. (COMPLETELY-against the rules) Slam on their brakes to narrowly avoid hitting children in the crosswalk, ILLEGALLY park, and then gingerly remove their own children from the car, sending them on their merry way.

Hello!!! We know YOUR children are precious, but how about the rest of us!!!? We know you are VERY IMPORTANT, but EVEN YOU have to wait in line with the little people, the rules apply to all of us. Even busy, important YOU!!!

The best is when they position a police officer in the parking lot and hand out tickets to these selfish speed demons. I love it!

i have the same moms in my sons preschool parking lot!! like their kids are the only ones that matter.
when i was pregnant, this pretentious and arrogant man in a rolls royce, almost ran me and my pregnant tummy over...seriously...because he was in such a hurry...at my synagogue. he had finished dropping his kids off, i was walking my tummy and my big kids, into the building...and he narrowly missed me!!! a..hole!!
hate people like that! makes me want to key their cars...yeah, i'm mature like that!!

I'm with you. Too many parents seem to think only of themselves and their kids -- not the danger they are putting the rest of our kids into when they park their big SUVs in red zones and crosswalks so they don't have to get out of the car and walk their children into the school. (I've been ranting about this for years.)

It's really a miracle that there aren't more accidents in school zones. (Knock on wood.)

I hate those people - that whole self-serving, I am better than everyone else attitude. I would be pulling up to those police officers and high-fiving them. I don't drop kids off at school but I yell at the speed demons jetting through our neighborhood at 35-40 mph while we are waiting for the bus. Now there's a pretty picture.

We are supposed to turn around all the way at the back end of the parking lot whether there is a line or not, and for some weird reason today there was no line, so like a good girl I still went all the way back and made my turn, but was totally cut-off by another car who must have really needed to be in front of me to get their kid dropped off first. They did get chastised by the teachers, but they were lucky I had already had a cup of coffee and was actually alert and didn't hit them. grrrrr.

I think drop off/pick up lines could be a social study. It is simply amazing what some people will do.

In my neighborhood, which is little city within a city, (prep central) just passed a law that says no cell phone usage AT ALL in school zones.

Anyway, this post kinda reminds me of people who have a blaise attitude towards drunk driving, and then you remind them, how about a drunk driver on the road when YOUR precious child is in the drunk driver's range? Ooooh, then suddenly the attitude changes.

Our elementary school was bordered by two streets and the younger kids carpool line was in the back where there was just a little driveway, so the carpool line usually went all the way down the street to the corner (the school was in the middle of the block). There were CLEARLY marked signs that said "NO LEFT TURN" into or out of the circle driveway, but every single day, the same woman would come from the other direction and attempt to cut into the carpool line from the left. (Grandmas in Cadillacs would try to do the same thing--they got a one time pass from me--haha!) Somebody would always let her in and it just ticked me off. Finally, I started tattling on her everytime I saw her do it and finally the teacher in charge of safety patrol said something to her. Now, my own little corner of hell is our Middle School dropoff, which is on a regular city street and you pull in and out of a lane to drop off. BUT, somehow people who live in outer suburbia/mongolia think it's their right to use it as their commuter highway and you regularly run into some jerk who doesn't want to let anybody out. DOTR has had a couple people try to run him off the road right there as he's driving beside them in the dropoff lane. I can't handle it that early in the morning, it just stresses me out. I don't know what's wrong with these people, that school has only been in the same place for 71 years. If you have problem, find a new way to work.

Wow, that was long. You really don't want to get me started on this subject. I could write a book, going all the way back to preschool.

It probably would not help if I rammed my car into theirs when they did this..but that is how angry it makes me!!!

Did you know that a live action Speed Racer movie is coming out this spring. Sorry... I digress... are these the same moms that never leave their home without putting on a faceful of makeup and dressing to the teeth. B'otches!

We have them too. Makes me NUTS! We also have one lady in particular who loves to make hand motions and wild gestures in her car if she doesn't feel you are getting out of her way fast enough. I have dubbed her "Road Rage". The best part is we all have to walk our preschoolers into school so once she gets all her aggressions out in the parking she strolls into drop off like nobody knew it was her! WTH??? I deliver her heavy doses of stink eye on a regular basis :)
